Gentoo the Fast Way!


The installation will take point from a minimal gentoo iso file which you can fin here:

When you have download the file you can use this below to make one of your USB drives as the bootup option.

Below zip file(gentoo-cli.zip), is giving you all the commands and short descriptions for getting a Gentoo dist up and running in no time, on your laptop, desktop pc e.g.

If you need to troubleshoot your Gentoo install because of some failure after reboot, then you can try the below sum-up of a lot nice stuff for rookies.

Performance and system info

Performance:

IF dev/sda3 can't be reach at bootup or netcard not function, reboot again with the live cd inserted and just mount all things:
# mount /dev/sda3 /mnt/gentoo
# mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/gentoo/boot
# cd /mnt/gentoo
# mount -t proc none /mnt/gentoo/proc
# mount --rbind /sys /mnt/gentoo/sys
# mount --rbind /dev /mnt/gentoo/dev
# chroot /mnt/gentoo /bin/bash
# source /etc/profile
# export PS1="(chroot) $PS1"

# genkernel --menuconfig --lvm all
# cp arch/x86/boot/bzImage /boot/kernel-gentoo

!after this you can recomplie all then, this you need to get it to work.
